The title of the exhibition is because it’s the centenary of International Women’s Day: and there was a song called “Bread and Roses ” because life is about beauty not just survival! So still relevant in 2011!
As we go marching, marching, we bring the greater days,
The rising of the women means the rising of the race.
No more the drudge and idler, ten that toil where one reposes,
But a sharing of life’s glories: Bread and roses, bread and roses.
An inspiration rather than a theme? (As ART = ROSES?) Although lots of images of food and flowers might result!!
Looking forward to hearing from you.
