Cardiff Feminist Network is a forum for feminists and their allies to get together regularly for discussions and socialising, and to support feminist activism in the Cardiff area.

What we stand for

Cardiff Feminist Network aims to:

  • Coordinate activism and communication between members of CFN and associated women’s groups
  • Host monthly discussion meetings
  • Organise social events
  • Be a point of communication and information sharing between feminists and women’s groups in Cardiff and surrounding areas
  • Facilitate information about campaigning opportunities

Discussion meetings take place once a month with opportunities for socialising and networking after the meetings.

There is a steering group for organisers. We’re always looking for help, so if you’d like to be involved, please get in touch.

    quick question .

what do the cfn think about ladies night ?
there is an ‘ultimate ladies night ‘ featuring a drag queen and several male ‘dancers’ at the cardiff medical social club.

I have asked why this event is happening as I feel this exploits men ,taking their clothes off
    just to entertain women.

Is this just as sexist as women taking their clothes off to entertain men ?

I have also asked , for equality sake, if there will be an ultimate gents night.

Hi there, to answer your question simply and very few words, feminism is against any form of sexism or indeed discrimination though of course like any political movement, it is far from perfect and is not always consistent. This depends as well on the different ‘categories’ or even generations of feminists. Yes, this is just as sexist as women stripping for men but the social and historical implications are not comparable, thus making it at the same time very different. That is not to say it is better.

Just wondering how I can find out more information about monthly discussion meetings and events? I’m not on facebook (I know, I know…) but would love to come along to a discussion meeting.

Hi Liz, we’re planning to make this blog site a more current and up-to-date place to get information about events that are happening (as you can tell it’s a bit patchy at the moment!)
We’re currently planning something as part of the Lose the Lads Mags campaign on Nov. 17 – I don’t have any more details yet but there will hopefully be an announcement on the blog soon!

Hi, I’d like to get involved. Where and when do you meet and can I just turn up to meetings? Thanks. Regards kath Lawrence.

Hi Kathryn. Of course, you can turn up to anything… no booking required! Are you a member of the FB group? If not, it may be worth having a look on there for happenings: https://www.facebook.com/groups/395270061254/

If you’re not on FB, let me know and I’ll send you a list of what’s taking place in the near future.
